Dadabots Unleashes Fear of the Infinite Creativity Monster: 100 AI-Generated Slam Death Songs
Extreme AI artists Dadabots (CJ Carr and the Enigmatic Neural Orchestrator, Zack Zukowski) recently held a riveting Q&A listening party on YouTube, offering an exclusive glimpse into their collaboration with the South African slam death titans, Vulvodynia.
Things like the bass and drums in metal songs perform better when the AI model is working with raw audio. That’s what the artists behind Dadabots of come to discover through their years of AI music creation. This is opposed to models that use spectrograms, or a visual representation of the sound but tend to work better with less dynamically rhythmic music.
The visuals were also created through AI, with Dadabots using a combination of 3 different generative AI models to ultimately create the end animation. They used Midjourney for the initial art, then Stable Diffusion’s ‘in painting’ feature to create 200 versions of that initial Midjouney piece, each one showcasing a unique monster. Finally, Dadabots fed the 200 Stable Diffusion pieces into the next AI model, StyleGAN3, which was used to create the final animation.
Listen to some of the resulting music below, delivering everything from funny-face-inducing heavy riffs to extended tracks of pure atmospheric ambiance. All based on the ‘Mob Justice’ album by Vulvodynia.
